I'm selling some of my hardware for cheap if you are keen on getting into the mining scene.

Mind me asking what components you're putting in your new rigs?

Re: Bitcoin Mining / Coin Mining Discussion / FAQ

So I don't even know if doing it right, downloaded a wallet (busy syncing), downloaded GUIminer, signed up to slush's pool and now im mining at 490mhash/s.

This will not run 24/7. Will I still make any money per month (can run through the night) also don't factor electricity.

My 7970 is running at 83 degrees while mining- not sure if this is ok for nightly runs with no extra cooling.

Any suggestions or should I just give up before starting?

Re: Bitcoin Mining / Coin Mining Discussion / FAQ

83 degrees would be too hot for me. I try keep my cards under 78, with 75 being preferred.

It would usually be more profitable to mine Litecoin rather than Bitcoin. That said, the difficulty is going up quite a lot in about 17 hours, which will make it less profitable.
Just google bitcoin/litecoin mining calculator to get a guestimate on how much you would earn. Be aware that they don't account for difficulty changes, which do change your profitability quite considerably.

as long as you keep the VRM temps below 100 its fine. use gpu-z to monitor VRM temps (sensors tab). Having VRM temps around 90 is beter but I woudnt worry if its below 100
