    Re: X-mas Outreach Project

Hey all! My sincerest apologies for the lack of news...

I've asked the charity for an in-depth update which I will then post here.

Believe me, I'm also getting a little impatient at this point! Please bear with me for just a little bit longer...

    Re: X-mas Outreach Project

    Just received this:

A huge thank you to you and everyone else who contributed to the computer for the CAST Inner-City community centre at Addington Primary School.

Our inner-city projects are based at Addington Primary, from where we assist the poorest inner-city homes with basic food and clothing, we have a counselling centre, sports programme and after-school homework centre hat run from the premises of the school.

The school refers children to us who are struggling with emotional, behavioural or learning problems. The vast majority of these children are very poor homes. Our programmes also reach out to the homeless and other inner-city families who are in severe poverty.

As there was a recent break-in at the building, we decided to wait until the damaged burglar bars are replaced and a new alarm system has been installed before we move the computer in, this will obviously delay things a little bit, but hopefully it should all be finished in the next two weeks. Until then, the computer is being stored at our head office in Westville.

It would be great if you’d be able to come in and do the handover to the community workers when everything is ready, in which case I’ll give you a date soon. Alternatively we’ll send you the pictures and you can pass them on to the others with our thanks.

    Looking forward to chatting soon.

    Regards

    Jean-Ray

That would be brilliant! I won't be able to get off work but it would be great to have a representative from the forum there. If there are any days that suit you better than others let me know and I'll arrange with Jean-Ray.

    Re: X-mas Outreach Project

Well TBH this is the last time I am contributing to a charity event for a pc, unless it is done by an Admin or well known MOD. Cause I feel there is a story behind this. If I am wrong please forgive me, but why there is no proof of handing the pc over to the nominated charity etc. It had a dead line and it was well gone over Xmas and now nothing yet. Sorry but this is how I feel. Hope i did not step on any toes here.

    Hi PieterShaun,

Fully understand your worries here and, to be frank, I'm getting a little bit sick of waiting on these guys... I think it's casting doubt on my name here and that's really getting me down. As such, I'm pm-ing the phone number for the guy at the charity to anyone posting here and also urge you to make your own enquiries via email: jean-ray[at]westvillebaptist.co.za.

Furthermore, I was the last point of contact and the deadline has been missed. If it will put this matter to rest, I'll pay anyone the going rate for whatever they've contributed and still post the pictures when they finally happen. If there's anything more I can do to clear this up more, please let me know.
