Want to buy Laptop for work and Gaming.Help please

Hi guys,

I need a laptop for work but also strong enough to play all the basic games without issues. Price range about R8000 Max R9000. Anyone that knows who I can contact please pm me details or if you are a reseller let me know please with all the specs and price. Would preffer a laptop with 17" screen. From experience in looking for notebooks in that price range, and what you want to do,

look for anything over and above these specs :
i5 XXX, i5 2XXX, i7 XXX, i7 2XXX Processor. (Dont go the i3 route in notebooks, and its preferred to go for the second generation i5 over the 1st generation i7.
4GB DDR3 Ram
Nvidia GT330m (minimum) GT540m (decent)
Im no Nvidia fanboy, but In all honesty I would NOT go for any ATI/AMD GPU on a notebook that price range. They usually end up being way too underpowered. (6370 etc are worse than a stale slice of toast)
HDD anything pretty much
(for 17" in that price range, dont expect 1920x1080, but 1600x900 isnt impossible.)

I've seen on some websites doing some research on the gpu's and seems like the 6770 is the best mobile card in my price range? It owns the GT540 and is the GT555m is a match but the price of a 555 is way over 12k. Too much moola. Thanks for the tip!

Sure, If you can get a 6770 then go for it!, just the lower end AMD cards are worthless. (GT330m runs games like a boss and its terrible in comparison to GT555m)

Oh ok I was told again that the 330 is a super crap card? You will never know until you tested it though. Who can I buy from that has decent prices?

im sure saw lenovo with gt555m for 9k or so, think it was y570 at pczone

laptopsdirect.co.za has the Lenovo Y570p w/6GB RAM, i7, GT555M, 750GB HDD for around R9.5k. It's a 15.6" screen that does 1366x768, but that's the compromise you will have to make for the hardware. I believe it has both HDMI and VGA out to connect a larger screen to it as well.

I also believe that they claim to beat the price if you've found it cheaper anywhere else.
