    Some advice please?

    Hey guys,

I'm considering getting a new gaming laptop.

My first choice is the Origin EON 17-X... Price wise it's pretty steep but the specs seem worthwhile. Since it's my first time buying a gaming laptop, how do I go about it? Can they ship to S.A?

    Thoughts?

    Thanx for the reply green-hydra

I'm in the process of selling off stuff so I'm working on about R30K... the EON 17-X is over that but will save a little longer for it.

I was considering alienware as their laptop's look great but origin has something special & has crazy specs. I was planning on upgrading my rig to X79 anyway so to get it in mobile (well sort off) would be great.

Smilodon .. what about semi moile x79?

    Alienware X51 ?

Otherwise Alienware can do custom speccing as well on their notebooks

Also id reccomend Asus as they have a super after sale support

Hey cranky - lol nice name m8!

Never thought about the x51, prob is thats not really portable I have always loved asus & something I was worried about with origin. Has anyone bought anything from them b4? I would like to know how they handle their customers & warranties etc

I google'd origin vs alienware - seems a lot of ppl went with origin so that seems good

yeah make no mistake about it but who deals with Origin in our country? How sure are you that you will be able to get good after sale support and if you can import it via some 1 it will mean that any problems you get you would have to send your laptop back overseas and wait weeks for a RMA .

Umm if I may ask, why a Gaming laptop? R 30K WILL GET you two desktops with better performance. Remember those gaming graphics cards are heavily heavily crippled! So get a laptop for your run about and game on a desktop?

Remember sending back such a huge expensive laptop will be very expensive because of size, weight and insurance...

    Re: Some advice please?

Thanx for all the replies guys, reading through the comments It seems theirs a lot of factors I never really thought about - like RMA, what I could get for that amount of money etc..

I was always against gaming laptops until I got my XPS & even though it's years old, It's much better than I expected. So this Origin laptop surely wont dissapoint by what I see on paper. I'll wait for a review to pop up & check it out.

In the mean time, I'll look around at local laptops such as that MSI GT780 & Alienware.

If I do get it though, I'll open a review on it

    Have a great day guys!

Even if international warranty is 2 years, you will still have to pay for shipping both ways and get the luxury of enjoying the extra wait...
