    Scratch build: Proxima

Welcome to my new scratch build project, Proxima. Me and a few members of Losias.net have been designing the case for a few months now.

The case will be built out of Aluminium which will be brushed and anodized later on. The case feature a sleek and curvy look and side panels made of solid wood. The case will have a M-ATX form factor, capable of housing the largest PSU's, 3 hard drives, Lightweight watercooling and a slot-load slim DVD drive. E22 is making a custom reservoir for the case, which I will show you later.

This has been in progress for quite some time but I didn't know I could post my log here. I'll just show some of the updates. You can read my full log on Losias, Bit-Tech or SystemShock.

Thank you for the very kind people who is sponsoring this build to make it more affordable for a 17 year-old.

Update #07 :: Cover continued and mounting places

    29 December 2011

We got back from a short getaway from the Christmas rush and I am modding again. It's taking me so long to do almost nothing but eventually I'll get there.

I made the 2nd internal cover panel and fixed it to the case. It mounts onto the pump bracket which consists of a bent L-shaped aluminium bracket which mounts to the case, 2 rubber pads glued to the alu and then the pump glued on to the pads. The bracket is small so I don't mind it being part of the pump.

Next up I'll have to begin making fan and HDD mounts as well as make a bracket for the ghetto radiator.

Update #08 :: Reservoir is here and installed!

    14 January 2012

Custom reservoir, designed by me, made by E22 (Editor22 on the forum). You have been teased a bit with this res, and now here it is. It's made specifically for this case, and would look stupid in any other case imho.

E22 made the res out of a solid block of clear plexi and some 10mm sheet. The front lid is milled with a 3mm lip on the sides so that the "window" sits flush with the panel it's mounted on. E22 also made the custom 0-ring from white cord to fit with the watercooling tubes I'll be using.

Thank you very much E22 for this wonderful product. It came out perfect!

What impresses me is that almost everything is DIY, no shortcuts taken on the small details, like that uber res (kudos to E22 for a fantastic looking build). Well deserving of praise

Can't sleep and I think I've just realised why... What metal is that waterblock made from? It looks a lot like aluminium in which case you may be in for some woes with an unintentional battery in your loop. Also, will that "Z" shape not create an unnecessarily high impedance for your water flow? Anyway, just a thought and goodnight
