    Car audio help

Hi guys, hopefully I will be getting my first car soonish - a Renault Sandero.

This gives me a nice opportunity to kit it out with some nice speakers. Unfortunately I have a budget of about (R3500 excl fitment) so I had a look around and this looks like what I want. I would like to know if I am a total noob (which I am) or whether this would be acceptable.

    Sony CDX-GT500U Mp3 with Usb
ICE Power Pro Series 3200w 4channel Amplifier
    Pioneer TS-W259D4 10" DVC 1200w Subwoofer
    Box 10" Single Ported
    Sony XS-GTX6940 440w 4way 6x9”
    Pioneer 20mm Tweeters

    Thanks in advance

    Hmmm, why 6x9's and tweeters?

Generally one would go for a set of splits up front, a sub, 4 channel amp and a deck.

So amp front stage will run the splits, rear stage will bridge to run the sub and the deck controls it all.

Also, don't forget your wiring. A decent 8AWG kit should be fine for that setup.

PS, Autostyle is well priced but also check out SoundMatch. Also, hoestly I would rather buy a Kenwood, Pioneer or Alpine deck than a Sony

    Re: Car audio help

Hey Lex, congrats on the new car. One thing to check is that the head unit is not completely built in and it can be changed.

I would suggest going to Bass Waves, they have built some of the best sound cars in South Africa and the owner has a wealth of knowledge.

With regards to your setup, not bad, but... always a but.

I would suggest spending more on fewer better components. Start off with head unit, amp and a set of splits. then later add a second amp and sub, or even a decent head unit and splits and later add decent sized amp and splits.

Also check out the SnS forums used and abused section.

Car audio is like CUD, it starts of small but turns into a giant cash eating machine!!

    Thanks for the help guys.

Juggy, I don't know why I did that... which splits would you recommend?
Yeah sorry I forgot to mention the wiring kit, I will probably get something like this.

Moonuit, I was going to to that but I would rather put a decent (nothing elaborate) system in and leave it at that because I will only keep the car for +-3 years.

Sounds limited have a very nice website , with much better range of decent audio products than autostyle . Try to build something in your budget from Moonuits component suggestion and see what you come up with . Here is the link

And with the whole 3 years thing , trust me just do it once and do it properly . Rather than wasting money on something you're going to be unhappy with and do properly later anyway. Simply shoving 6x9's in the backboard is not going to sound half as good as a decent pair of splits.

O yes, what Juggy said too makes sense. I also go for an Alpine HU. Remember the HU is the most critical part of your system cause this is what determines what your speakers play, so if your amps get a ***ky signal for the HU, it will just amplify that ***ky signal.

Ok well you need to match your amp's rms watt output to those of your splits , not that 32 million watt crap that some amps have ( it doesn't mean anything) . And you're gonna need to look by size , I have no idea what size they are for a Sandero though ?

That would all depend on your budget but I wouldn't skimp on the speakers that are going to be closest to your ears.

I went with a set of DLS R6A's which are sublime and cost R2500.

I agree with the guys, drop the 6X9s.
Drop ICE power in favour of say Targa at a min, I have DLS splits and they rock, Alpine HU is a mainstay of the SQ frat.
There used to be a SONY HU that was well respected.
