guys this myt be stupid but its really annoying to have to refresh ur page to see ur pm notification. is there a way we can mke a popup appear as soon as the pm hits ur inbox?? that would make things easier, as i sumtimes dont refresh for 15 min jus lookin at chatbox and then wen i do refresh the guys gone offline and retracted his offer.

Check your settings in your profile, there's an option there already to allow for a popup.

    Re: Suggestions for new forum

I may be wrong but as far as I know the PM system is static in the background of the page so no active refreshes until you physically load a new page or refresh the current one. This is how VB is written, not something that we can change

I'm afraid that I don't know of a modification that does this. Further more, it would have to be done via AJAX, which would mean that every user on the forums will have a scheduled check for PM's every minute or 5, which will slow down the forum, I think. So, even if it's available, I don't think I'll install it. Use your browser to put an auto refresh on the page.

I'll think about installing this. Seems worth while.

I don't know of a mod like this. If you purchase the subscription, you won't have a problem with this.

    I'll think about it.

With the whole chatbox story and such, and the geeks we are, isnt it a cool idea to take this oppurtunity to enhance our chatbox into a webbased IRC client, which has lost more features than the original like private messaging, ignore modes etc etc?

The web started as an open based free-for-all. A webbased IRC client, with a proper disclaimer should assist all users and waver any consequences for the host carbonite.co.za

There is an IRC room on Shadowfire if you wish to follow this route.

We liked what the CB gave to the site, just not how things had turned out at times. For this we are busy relooking at how best to integrate the CB again.

    Re: Suggestions for new forum

What about a sticky somewhere, perhaps the tech section, listing the most popular brands with the warranties that apply to their products with the relevant links to go to if something breaks. I know that people can just look these things up, but sometimes there is confusion concerning warranty lengths and I think it could be handy to have all relevant information listed in a single place.

    Something like:

    AMD

    Item Range: CPUs
    Warranty: 3 Years

Local Support: Supplier/Retailer where item was obtained

    APACER

    ASUS

Item Range: Motherboards, Graphics Cards, Monitors, Laptops
    Warranty: 3 Years

    Item Range: Sound Cards
    Warranty: 1 Year

Local Support: Website > ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
Prophecy Support Forum > Asus support
    Telephone Number > 0117835450

    CLUB3D

    Item Range: Graphics Cards
    Warranty: 2 Years

Local Support: Prophecy Support Forum > Club 3D

    CORSAIR

    Item Range: Memory
    Warranty: Limited Lifetime

    Item Range: CPU Coolers
    Warranty: 2 Years

    Item Range: Power Supplies
Warranty: 7 Years > AX Series + HX Series Except HX1000
    5 Years > HX1000 + TX Series + TX v2 Series + VX Series
    3 Years > GS Series + CX400
    2 Years > CX Series excluding CX400

    Item Range: Audio Devices
    Warranty: 2 Years

    Item Range: Solid State Drives
    Warranty: 3 Years

    Local Support: ?
International Support: RMA Page > Support
    Warranty > Warranty Info

    DELL

    Monitors:

    EVGA
    GAINWARD
    GIGABYTE
    G.SKILL
    HIS

    Graphics Cards: 2 Years

    HP

    Monitors: ?

    INNO3D

    Graphics Cards: 2 Years

    INTEL

    CPUs: 3 Years
    Motherboards: 2 Years ?

    KINGSTON

    Memory:
    Flash Drives:
    SSDs:

    LG

    Monitors: 3 Years

    LOGITECH

    Peripherals: 1 Year
    Audio: ?

    MSI

Graphics Cards, Motherboards, etc : 3 Years

    MUSKIN

    Memory: ? Years
    SSDs: ? Years

    OCZ
    PATRIOT
    POV (Point of View)
    RAZER
    ROCCAT
    SAMSUNG
    SAPPHIRE
    SEAGATE
    TEAM
    VTX3D
    WESTERN DIGITAL
    XFX
I threw this list together very quickly so there will in all likelyhood be brands missing. I was not certain which method would be best to list different kinds of items, eg:

    Item Range: XXXX
    Warranty: XXXX

    or

    Item: Warranty
    _██_
    (ಠ_ృ)

The active topics list in Tapatalk has italicised fonts, which I find very difficult to read. Can anything be done about that? Or am I going to be outvoted?
