The Carbonite Rules : Read and understand these

The Core Rules are global or forum-wide rules which apply to all sections of the Carbonite Classifieds forums. Anyone found contravening these rules will have administrative action taken against them which may take the form of a warning, suspension or a ban depending on the severity of the contravention. As these are Core Rules however, it is expected that you, the user, will have read, understood and agreed to them before registering on this forum and thus have little to no excuse for any transgressions.

The Core Rules are as follows:

No racism/sexism -    Racism refers to beliefs, practices and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed "race". Primarily, it refers to an assumption that the human species can meaningfully be divided into races, together with hostility to people of certain races or a belief, conscious or unconscious, that people of different races differ in value. Some people whose thinking about others uses racial categories believe that different races can be placed on a ranked, hierarchical scale.     Sexism is commonly considered to be discrimination against people based on their sex rather than their individual merits, but can also refer to any and all differentiations based on sex.  
No hate speech -    Hate speech is a controversial term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against someone based on his/her race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. The term covers written as well as oral communication, hence its bearing on this forum.  
No piracy -    Piracy entails discussions of pirated goods, how-to guides concerning or related to piracy or reverse-engineering of proprietary software and hardware, links to cracks, "warez" or any other illegal software or similar information.  
No advertising    - Advertising of new goods unless cleared by the Administration team will not be tolerated whatsoever. Only second-hand goods are welcome in the Classifieds section. Links to competing online shops may be deleted at the Administrators discretion. This includes the use of the PM system.   Advertising will only be allowed when the user has a reseller subscription.
The administration team reserves the right to moderate, either by editing or deleting, any other user-submitted content where deemed necessary with or without warning as well as the right to enforce the rules of this forum when and wherever it is deemed necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, signatures, avatars, user websites, or any other content on the Prophecy site or sites.  
Carbonite staff members' decisions are final and not up for dispute. We value your suggestions and input, however any member found bad-mouthing or attacking a staff member over a decision or decisions that have been made will be dealt with accordingly.

The following rules deal with all images within posts or blogs, or within albums on Carbonite:

Absolutely no sexually orientated images of any kind. This includes pornography, soft porn and erotica.
No images featuring extreme violence.
No images featuring gruesome or morally offensive scenes.
No images featuring swearwords.

These rules are binding to any images, irrespective of whether you upload them to Carbonite or link to them from an external source by using [img] or [url] bbCode. Images pertaining to points 2 and 3 may (and must) be cleared with a staff member if they're absolutely necessary to a discussion. No images pertaining to point 1 will be considered. Please be aware that Rule #5 and #6 of the Core Rules also apply to images.

Avatars and signatures are bound by the following rules:

No avatars or images within signatures may contain nudity of any kind.
No avatars, images or text within signatures may contain hate speech or external links to racist images or web sites.
No avatars, images or text within signatures should contain anti-religious or racist symbolism.
No avatars, images or text within signatures may contain sexual overtones or innuendo.

Since avatars and signatures fall under user-submitted content, Rule #5 and Rule #6 of the Core Rules also apply to them.

The following rules will apply with regards to the Classifieds forum:

Please adhere to these rules. If you break them, your rights to post on this forum will be removed.

* Buying and selling of any concert or event tickets is illegal and will result in a banning without warning.
* Buying and selling of Microsoft DSP software is illegal and will result in a banning without warning.
* New or used goods may be sold by anyone, however this is restricted to singular items only. If it is discovered that a user is selling larger quantities of the same item or continually selling new items, the sales will be removed and the user will receive a first warning with directions to purchase a Reseller account. (Please see this thread Classifieds Subscriptions for more details).
* We can decide to limit or remove your access to sell or buy on these forums, for any reason we deem necessary, with or without cause, at any time.
* Do NOT derail any sale with off topic posts and insults.

Disclaimer:

* Carbonite/Prophecy, it's owners or partners, and The Prophecy Shop will not accept any liability for any loss whatsoever resulting from you purchasing or selling a product/service from any individual on the Carbonite/Prophecy Forums. Any and all transaction are made at your own risk.
* Carbonite/Prophecy, the forums, it's owners, partners and staff will NOT be involved in any arbitration at all between a buyer and a seller. We refer you once again to the first disclaimer. Discussions in Classified threads:

* The original seller can post a link to whichever shop he wants. Prophecy, PC Zone, anything.
* The original seller can ask any price he wants. He can sell a 2GB flash drive for R1 000 000, if he wants. It's nobody elses business. If you think it's too high, move on, don't comment (or at worst, send him a NICE pm, telling him the price of new goods, and the expected price for a second hand item).
* No price discussions in the seller's thread. You're welcome to make a thread in the Smack Talk forum and discuss it there (but keep it civil and don't be destructive towards the seller). Example, you may post a thread in Smack Talk asking about pricing for a product that is available through a reseller or online store, but you may not link or suggest any dealers and/or their pricing.
* Price discussions to be kept to PM. Any public price discussions will be deleted, and the offender will be banned for 2 days (first offense), 1 week (second offense) and permanent (third offense).
Offers for items should be done via PM or in the Chatbox, please do not post offers in the threads as this leads to more price wars which would like to avoid.

Auctions as sales:

Please take note that auctions are not allowed as these usually end up causing a lot of trouble with users unable to follow the site rules.

What is an auction?
Auctions are when you make a post to sell an item/service to the highest bidder (usually in a set time frame).

iTrader system:

iTrader has been installed and is available for everyone to use. You can access it from the Profile summary on the left of a users' Post.

A few basic rules:

* After a trade has been completed, visit the Traders' page and give him/her feedback on your experience
* Remember to add the URL of the thread for reference
* Be polite at all times
* Be HONEST!
* The iTrader system is not to be used for personal grudges. It may only be used if a sale/buy/trade has taken place between parties. If a bad iTrade is made in this respect, please REPORT the bad rating.
* If you feel you've been unfairly rated, please contact a moderator, and they'll investigate the matter. This is as far as we will get involved in a sale (possibly reversing negative iTrader ratings, if we feel there is merit to your complaint. We will not be liable in any other way.

People abusing the iTrader system will not enjoy the repercussions.

No warning will be given to users as everyone is expected to follow the rules listed earlier in this post.

Offenders will be prosecuted in the following manner:
1. Warning by removing your classifieds access for 24 hours. You will still be able to read posts, but not reply or make new threads or use the PM system.
2. 1 week ban.
3. Permanent ban.

Your status on these forums, as well as any fees paid (Premium/Resellers) will NOT be considered in this regard. If you break the rules, you will be prosecuted. No exceptions.

Bumping rules (moving your thread to the top of the search list):

BUMP's are only allowed every 3 days.
Resellers are allowed to BUMP their threads once per day.

No sharing of dealer prices or distributor names will be allowed on the forums or in the Chatbox. This forum deals in second hand goods primarily with the exception of the subscribed resellers who may sell their items (although the same rule still applies to them).

First offense will be met with a warning and the post removed.
Second offense will result in a 1 week ban.
Third offense will result in a permanent ban from these forums.

Addendum:

iTrader is for sales that happen in a thread, if someone takes an extra item that wasn't in the thread, it is still only worth one itrade.

No sale/wanted/any posts just stating that its for itrader will be accepted, it will be removed and the following will happen:

No warning will be given to users as everyone is expected to follow the rules listed earlier in this thread regarding iTrade.

Offenders will be prosecuted in the following manner:

Just a reminder to all that you are free to sell 2nd hand items , however if we pick up that your selling habits are indicative of reselling, you will be asked to purchase a reseller account.

Also, please don't just skim through the rules and then forget them a week later. They are here for a reason and ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse anymore.
